Children Investment Fund Project:

Supporting Access for Adolescents to Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Services​.

Safire aims to improve adolescent girls (10 – 19 years of age) sexual and reproductive health in the context of reducing unwanted pregnancy and associated death or injury, with the aim of saving lives. ​​Furthermore, the program aims to strengthen referral networks, working with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) so that adolescents know where to go and can access safe high quality reproductive health services and information. It also fosters a supportive environment – through supportive community norms, reducing stigma and use of social media, mobile phones and interpersonal networks. It a project that runs from 2018 to January 2023.

 

Global Fund Malaria- Community Led Monitoring, Supported By ACOMIN (Civil Society In Malaria CONTROL IMMUNIZATION AND NUTRITION) AND Catholics Relief Service, 2020 to date.

Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) {Vendor under Catholic Relief Services (CRS)}, coopted Gender Development Initiative on the Global Fund Malaria Grant for contributing towards reducing the malaria burden and bringing malaria-related mortality and morbidity to zero level. GenDi works in Abeokuta South and AdoOdoOtta LGA of Ogun State.

 


Building Solidarity, Accountability and Commitment to Ending Violence Against Women and girls Project (SACVWAG)in collaboration with WARDC (FORD Foundation)

This project is about building community level accountability mechanisms and enhance collaboration between women leaders and traditional institutions in addressing Gender-Based Violence. The long term goal fo the project is to reduce the occurrence of violence against women and girls in the southwest, Nigeria and enhance engagement, capacity and accountability of community leaders and gatekeepers, including women agency, religious and traditional rulers. On this particular project, we are currently working at Ado odoOtta and Sagamu Local government.


Out of School and Injecting Drug Users in Ogun State – 2ND HIV & AIDS PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT PROJECT (HPDP2);
supported by the World Bank supported Programme (2013-2016)

The project aimed at Increasing HIV Prevention Knowledge Among Youth in School, Out of School and Injecting Drug Users in Ogun State HIV Education and Service Provision. Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Ijebu Northeast were targeted as part of the project

 

“A girl a Pad Project” supported by Wheels of Hope Rising Foundation and other partners

 

The main objective of the project was to create awareness on menstruation, its process and the personal hygiene techniques surrounding the use of menstrual pads.

 

4 Kids” TV Series (2009-2011); Nations’ treasure TV series (2012-2013) – broadcasted on OGTV Abeokuta, EKTV Ado-Ekiti, NTA Ado-Ekiti and NTA Abeokuta respectively:  supported by the TV Stationand philanthropists

 

The objectives of the TV series were to enlighten children and other stakeholders on children’s right as well as bringing in drama form, The program ran for about 3 years reaching over 20 million people across southwest Nigeria

 

Pinch of talent/Ebunti o farasin  (2013-2014) and Better tomorrow/Ola to r’ewa  on OGTV Abeokuta (2014 to 2022 on DSTV and GO TV) supported by the TV Station sand other philanthropists

The TV weekly program aimed at presenting well accomplished teenagers and youths who can serve as models for upcoming persons. The program ran on air for over 5 years with a total of  300 persons interviewed and not less than 10 million persons reached per annum

 

Musical recording and video production of societal norms and practices: Alujanjan, I’m gonna make you happy  etc. Supported by philanthropists and individuals in Nigeria.

Our musical and video production activities aims at strengthening the available support system for women and children in our society. Children are mentored to be diligent via songs that uphold societal values.

 

Nationwide Teenage Sensitization Programme (2017 to date) supported by volunteers of GenDi and bodies of other NGOs in Nigeria

This project aims to strengthen self-assertive skills among females, rid schools of cultism and building capacity of boys and girls on ending rape/violence against girls in schools and in society as a whole

 

Strengthening the representation and the participation of Nigerian Women in Leadership, Politics and Governance (in collaboration with other major interest groups)

GenDi works with other interest groups to strengthening women inclusion in leadership in Nigeria. We work to influence traditional gender roles and deeply rooted cultural and religious norms that has affected women’s participation in leadership. We also work to

 

Empowering Communities with strategic activities for

  • gender ambassadorship
  • scholarship provisions
  • advocacy for education inclusion for girls

 

Strengthening Accountability and Transparency to achieve a reduction in corruption practices (in collaboration with other CSOs)

GenDi works to support anti-corruption activities within the community and at the State Level, among actors such as the Government andlocal leadership. They are constructively engaged to support accountability and transparency inall policies and practices.

 

 

Empowerment of 20 people including teenagers living positively with HIV/AIDS (April 2013), jointly financed by African Diaspora Association of Female Students, Living Without Aids Initiative and other CSOs

The Project was embarked upon with the aim of educating members of the society on issues relating to HIV/AIDs and raising support for victims.

 

National Malaria Elimination Programme, Conducted AtOdogbolu Local Government Area Of Ogun State, Nigeria (A Project Supported By Society For Family Health (March 2014)

The activity was mainly on Social Mobilization to ending Malaria through the conduct of malaria testing, distribution of Long Lasting Insecticidal Treated Net and education for community members on treatment of nets.

 

Empowerment of indigent Families including Teenagers (2013-2015), supported by Terres Des Hommes

Terres Des Hommes provided support via GenDi, to Families of indigent and street children who were rehabilitated in Ogun State, Nigeria. At least 20 families were targeted and impacted in a sustainable manner, to reduce the incidence of street children.

 

Women Cooperative Groups

GenDi currently has 2 women cooperative groups at Leme and Totoro areas of Abeokuta, in Ogun State, Nigeria. The group consist of indigent women, who are having their capacities built on various endeavours. They are formally registered at the state levels and they have bank accounts.
