GenDi was founded 15 years ago by a courageous woman who was determined to improve the lives of adolescent girl, youth & women which larger effect will be felt all around the world. Ever since, GenDi has been undertaking pioneering work to transform gender norms and bring about gender equality and equity to improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes of children, youth and women.
Women, youth and children should be able to lead lives that are free from violence, they should have opportunities to expand their capabilities and have access to a wide range of resources. Quality services, information, education and social conditions that allow women to maintain good sexual and reproductive health and realize their sexual and reproductive rights are needed to enable the empowerment of children, youth and women.
Whilst progress has been made, gender inequality, harmful gender norms and stigma are still extensive. Inequality is pervasive and women and girls remain disproportionately discriminated against across social, economic and public life. This is a barrier to sustainable development as was highlighted by the inclusion of a stand-alone Sustainable Development Goal that aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
